Led Zeppelin: III

Led Zeppelin – III

Originally released in 1970, Led Zeppelin III reveals a band unwilling to stand still. Alongside the muscular riffs and blues-driven intensity of their early records, acoustic guitars and folk influences open up a more intimate, atmospheric side of their sound. The album reached No. 1 in both the UK and the US, taking that broader musical vision to a huge audience.

Immigrant Song launches the record with a sharp, relentless riff and Robert Plant’s soaring vocal, while Since I’ve Been Loving You stretches into slow-burning blues. Elsewhere, Gallows Pole builds its tension around an acoustic foundation, and Tangerine and That’s the Way offer quieter moments where melody and texture take centre stage.

The appeal of III lies in those contrasts: thunderous rock set against delicate acoustic passages, with each making the other more striking. A rewarding choice for listeners who love Zeppelin’s heavy side but want to explore the folk and blues threads woven through their music.
